The award is bestowed upon an individual who exhibits exceptional mentorship efforts and consistently works with undergraduate students at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University.

“Receiving this award was a special and fulfilling experience,” said Singh. “It was special because I was nominated by my students. When your students make you feel special and make you realize that you made a difference in their lives, it is such a rewarding feeling.”

Since 2014, Singh has mentored over 30 undergraduate students and two graduate students and served as judge, chair, and conference organizing committee in all STEM, EXPO, and HASBSEB conferences.

Eight of her students have received OUR grants, and three students have received Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) grants. Singh’s students have presented at the LU Expo, HASBSEB, regional, state, and national conferences.

Singh believes that teaching and research is a dynamic practice.

“The instructor and the students form a partnership in investigating and discovering current views and trends in the field,” Singh said. “Both the mentor and students learn from each other. I genuinely have a passion for undergraduate research and mentoring. Receiving this award has motivated me to consistently motivate my students to take challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.”
