Creating a sense of community for our Reaud Honors College students includes providing them with spaces where they can engage in committed, meaningful interaction with honors students from institutions all over the world.

At the cutting edge of educational honors enrichment, honors councils equip Reaud Honors College students with skill sets that empower them to explore their leadership abilities on a regional, national and international stage. These skill sets include:

  • Public Speaking
  • Debate & Critical Thinking
  • Strategic Planning
  • Social Competency

The Reaud Honors College is a proud member of the following honors councils:

The oldest and largest organization made up of honors educators and students, the National Collegiate Honors Council is made up of a diverse membership that provides a global perspective and a unified voice to support Reaud Honors College students. Our students have opportunities to participate in NCHC programs, such as Partners in the Parks and annual conferences.

Serving collegiate honors programs in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas, the Great Plains Honors Council coordinates its activities with the National Collegiate Honors Council to emphasize student presentations and “region-as-text,” allowing Reaud Honors College participants to directly experience and encounter the Great Plains at spring regional conferences.

Bringing together honors students and educators from across the Gulf Coast region, the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate Honors Council encourages and promotes student presentations and publications at fall regional conferences. Reaud Honors College students are encouraged to submit their research for consideration to present at these conferences.
