YOOL25 (Year of Our Lord 2025) is a thesis project that merges music and graphic design to examine political awareness, emotional introspection, and societal critique. The project consists of a ten-track instrumental album paired with twelve original cover designs. Influenced by progressive hip-hop, brutalist and retro-futurist design, and artists such as Neville Brody, Pedro Bell, Knxwledge, and MIKE, each artwork visually interprets its corresponding track through layered textures, bold typography, and restrained color palettes, creating a nostalgic yet forward-looking aesthetic. YOOL25 critiques contemporary issues including capitalism, global conflict, and cultural stagnation while offering a brief emotional reprieve through sound. Through this project, I hope to articulate a political stance and challenges expectations in both design and music.
