Eric Johnston (b. 1979) is an American artist, designer, and educator from Port Arthur, Texas.

In 2003 he earned his BFA from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University in Beaumont and in 2006 he earned his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. From 2007 to 2021 he lived and worked in New York City, exhibiting his drawings and designing home textiles for mass-market retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Bed Bath & Beyond. His work for Better Homes & Gardens is currently sold at all Walmart locations in the continental US.

Eric’s studio art practice is focused on small drawings made with oil pastels over pencil on tinted paper. The drawings function like a diary, highlighting routine, yet meaningful aspects of the artist’s lived experience. His most recent exhibitions include “The 39th Annual International Exhibition” at the University of Texas at Tyler, and “Generations”, a two-person exhibition at The East Texas Arts Center. Eric’s work has been exhibited in New York City, Baltimore, Virginia, Houston, and Southeast Texas.
