Dinners in the Spring

LU culinary students will begin hosting Dinners in the Spring on March 25, April 1, and April 8. Each dinner will include a different Monday night theme. Students have planned every aspect of these dinners from menu planning to execution. Cost of a ticket is $22.50.

Cognitive Stimulation Therapy for Individuals with Dementia
Date(s): Monday, Mar. 18 through Wednesday, May 1, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Location: LU Speech and Hearing Sciences (Speech-Language Pathology Clinic)
Is someone you love living with a dementia diagnosis? The speech-language pathology clinic here at LU offers free cognitive stimulation therapy groups for individuals with dementia. Groups meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. from March 18 to May 1. Call (40)9 880-8171 for prescreening and more information.

Spared: Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda Book Reading and Discussion

Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda was one of the worst in human history. Dr. Clementine Msengi recounts her remarkable journey from surviving the Rwandan genocide to becoming an accomplished American citizen, community leader, and academic. Books are available for purchase in the LU Bookstore.

College of Engineering to Host Discover Engineering Event

Discover Engineering is a free community event that provides fun, engaging activities to get kids excited about engineering and other STEM careers. Local companies and current engineering students will be hosting experiments. Activities can range from making kinetic sand to building mini catapults.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Opera Theatre Presents: Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini

Update Your Campus Contact Information
On Saturday, March 9, 2024 ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University conducted a test of the emergency communication system. If you did not receive the messages, we encourage you to follow the steps below:
-Navigate directly to the 9 Personal Information section at lamar.edu/updateinfo -Log in with your LEA username and password (same login for LU Email). -Review your contact details for accuracy. -To receive text alerts, be sure your cell phone number is listed and labeled as “Cell Phone.” If your cell phone is listed but labeled as anything other than “Cell Phone,” you will not receive text message alerts. -Be sure to update your Emergency Contact information as well. The Emergency Contact is someone the university would contact on your behalf in the event you experience an emergency while on campus. This contact does not receive storm updates/alerts. -Cell phone numbers are not included in your faculty/staff campus directory profile. You can adjust the information that is displayed in the directory by clicking on “Directory Profile” at the bottom of the page.

Mardi Paws Pet Food Drive

The Mardi Paws Pet Food Drive will conclude on Thursday, March 28 at 5 p.m. Please drop off any donations of dry dog or cat food and wet dog or cat food to Galloway Building Room 102. Donations received support Animeals, a program of Nutrition & Services for Seniors (Meals on Wheels).

Now Hiring LU Full-time Staff as Auxiliary Crew Members

LU Operations is now hiring full-time LU staff willing to work after normal scheduled hours. Crew members will work with campus partners to set up venues and spaces for major events, work in special assignments, move equipment or furniture across campus, and provide general work support for campus operations.
