TimelyCare
Student Health Center Now Offering TimelyCare Mental Health Services

Location: Virtual

LU's Student Health Center has partnered with TimelyCare to provide students with 24/7 access to virtual mental health services for free. Students do not need insurance to participate. By signing up , you can access 24/7 on-demand emotional support and scheduled counseling sessions!

Center for Resiliency SmartStorm Training Backpack Distributions

Date: Every Wednesday now through Wednesday, Oct. 16, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Location: Cherry Engineering Building, Singature Center Suites (front lobby)

The LU Center for Resiliency distributes disaster backpacks for participants who have completed the SmartStorm disaster training modules, while supplies last. Participants must verify completion of the training models to receive a backpack. For more information, contact Teressa Robertson at teressa.robertson@lamar.edu or (409) 880-7236.

Cognitive Spring Group
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy for Individuals with Dementia

Date(s): Monday, March 18 through Wednesday, May 1, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Location: LU Speech and Hearing Sciences (Speech-Language Pathology Clinic)

Is someone you love living with a dementia diagnosis? The speech-language pathology clinic here at LU offers free cognitive stimulation therapy groups for individuals with dementia. Groups meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. from March 18 to May 1. Call (40)9 880-8171 for prescreening and more information.

Community Meeting for South Park Residents

Date: Tuesday, Mar. 12, 6 p.m.
Location: Alice Keith Park Community Center

The South Park Neighborhood Partnership is hosting a community meeting for South Park residents on Tuesday, March 12 at Alice Keith Park Community Center. The purpose of this meeting is to launch initiatives to keep the community safe, engage the residents, and identify ways to support the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University surrounding area. The guest speakers will be Miles Haynes with the City of Beaumont and Officer Haley Morrow with Beaumont PD. Everyone is invited to attend. Cardinals Closet
Cardinals Closet Opens March 18

Date: Monday, Mar. 18, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: Wesley Center at LU (next to Brooks-Shivers Dining Hall)

The Cardinals Closet is now open for students in need of clothing like shirts, pants, coats, and shoes. Patrons can earn points towards clothing items by volunteering at the Cardinals Closet or the Cardinals Pantry. Contact Health Education or the Wesley Center for more information.

LU Is Out There
LU is Out There: Celebrating International Scholarly and Creative Activity

Date: Thursday, Mar. 21, 12:45 - 1:45 p.m.
Location: Setzer Student Center, Live Oak Ballroom B

Join us for lunch and to hear about the exciting international work taking place among our LU community of scholars and researchers. Guests will also hear a keynote address from one of LU's own scholars: Dr. Tilisa Thibodeaux, dean of Reaud Honors College.

Center for Resiliency to Host Annual Research Summit

The LU Center for Resiliency will host the 5th annual Research Summit featuring presentations from the College of Business, Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Development, Engineering and Fine Arts and Communication. Special guests from the community will moderate panels on the topic of economic development in Southeast Texas.

Update Your Campus Contact Information

On Saturday, March 9, 2024 ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University conducted a test of the emergency communication system. If you did not receive the messages, we encourage you to follow the steps below:

-Navigate directly to the 9 Personal Information section at lamar.edu/updateinfo
-Log in with your LEA username and password (same login for LU Email).
-Review your contact details for accuracy.
-To receive text alerts, be sure your cell phone number is listed and labeled as “Cell Phone.” If your cell phone is listed but labeled as anything other than “Cell Phone,” you will not receive text message alerts.
-Be sure to update your Emergency Contact information as well. The Emergency Contact is someone the university would contact on your behalf in the event you experience an emergency while on campus. This contact does not receive storm updates/alerts.
-Cell phone numbers are not included in your faculty/staff campus directory profile. You can adjust the information that is displayed in the directory by clicking on “Directory Profile” at the bottom of the page.

Scholarship applications for the 2024-2025 academic year are open. Remember to complete all applications on your dashboard. If you've been awarded, secure funding by accepting your scholarship in the Scholarship Portal. Visit lamar.edu/myscholarships to complete your applications and accept awards. The Texas State University System (TSUS) Regents’ Student Scholar Award is now open for applications.

Cardinal Communities is Looking for Peer Mentors

Deadline to apply: Wednesday, July 31, 11:59 p.m.

Cardinal Communities is looking for passionate members of the LU student body to apply to become a Peer Mentor. This position will offer students the opportunity to help their fellow Cardinals both new and incoming experience a smooth transition into a new academic environment. .
