New Chapter
Welcome to Your First Semester at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University
New Chapter supports transfer-admitted students as they transition to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University and connect with our trained Student Success Mentors. Throughout the fall and spring semesters, new transfer students are placed in small peer groups led by a mentor who provides consistent support through email, Teams, and GroupMe while helping students navigate campus life and access academic resources.
We are a university that promotes involvement beyond campus boundaries, connecting students with the local community while fostering meaningful relationships and a vibrant campus experience that puts students first. Through New Chapter, transfer students can participate in monthly events, student success activities, and specialized workshops designed to support the transfer experience. These structured connections help you access campus resources, build meaningful relationships, and prioritize well-being and academic success as you begin your new chapter at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University.

- Only 14% of community college transfers earn a bachelor's degree within six years of entering higher education.

Student Success Workshops
The Center for Academic Success (CAS) hosts an in-person success workshop series designed to help students make the most of their college experience at LU. Each session offers insight into student success and skills that students can take beyond the classroom. These workshops provide tools and strategies for students to improve their productivity, manage stress in challenging situations, enhance organizational skills, and more!

Your Experiences are an Asset: Bringing Previous Success to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University
September 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

Students who have transferred to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University bring valuable experiences, skills, and perspectives from previous colleges, careers, military service, family responsibilities, and community involvement. This workshop helps our students recognize the strengths they already possess and explore how those experiences can support their success in a new academic environment. Our students will identify transferable skills, connect past successes to current challenges, and develop strategies for applying their existing knowledge to achieve their academic and personal goals.
Can Everyone See My Message? Group Work Strategies That Actually Work

Group projects can be challenging, especially for our students who may be balancing work, family responsibilities, commuting, military service, or other commitments outside of school. This workshop provides practical strategies for communicating effectively, setting expectations early, navigating common group challenges, and contributing confidently to collaborative assignments. Our students will learn how to advocate for their needs, hold teammates accountable, and work productively with diverse groups while managing competing priorities.
Leadership Isn't Just a Position
November 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

Leadership can take many forms and does not require a formal title or leadership role. Our students often bring valuable leadership experience from previous colleges, careers, military service, family responsibilities, and community involvement. This workshop helps our students recognize the leadership skills they already possess and explore how they can use those skills to influence, collaborate, solve problems, and support others in academic, professional, and personal settings.
National Transfer Student Week
An annual, nationwide movement that celebrates transfer students and the supporters who champion their success. NTSW empowers campuses across the country to create more welcoming spaces where transfer students do more than just arrive. They thrive.
National Transfer Student Week takes place during the third full week of October: October 19-23, 2026

Success Workshops Now Available for LU Students
The Center for Academic Success (CAS) is excited to offer StudentLingo online student workshops to all ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University students. These workshops are available through our Innovative Educators StudentLingo website at no extra charge to our students and can empower our students to excel academically by closing skill gaps.
There are 20 workshops available. Students can view all 20 workshops which are available on demand. All that students need to do is create an account at and choose the sessions they find interesting and beneficial.
The LU Transfer Team
The LU Transfer Team at the Undergraduate Advising Center is also here to assist future and current transfer students. The team's goal is to help you transfer over as many of your credits as possible.

Position Responsibilities
Engage in and contribute to Center for Academic Success training sessions. Share your transfer experience with students, particularly regarding their expectations at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University. Ensure consistent availability for mentees during each work week. Implement the communication and connection plan developed by the supervisor. Establish an accountability support system with your mentees to provide collaboration, feedback, and campus opportunities. Respond to emails, Blackboard messages, and any other correspondence from mentees in a timely manner. Complete your time and effort log for each pay period. Complete your timesheets in accordance with payroll procedures. Maintain regular communication with the supervisor. Undertake other relevant tasks as directed.
Minimum and Desired Qualification
Expect to enroll as a continuing undergraduate student for the Fall 2026 semester. Maintain good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher. Maintain good judicial standing with no disciplinary action taken. Exhibit qualities of reliability, responsibility, confidence, flexibility, and a willingness to assist others. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with various range of stakeholders, students, faculty, and staff at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University. Exhibit a commitment to expanding your knowledge of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University and a willingness to assist others in learning about university and college life. Demonstrate experience handling confidential information and ensuring the accurate dissemination of responses. Proficient in using Blackboard and Office 365.
