Gifts in Action

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University Distinguished Alumni Becky and Chuck Mason established a Fund to advance the concept that teachers engaging students in K-12 science classes should to be science-minded or science-trained. Mamta Singh, associate professor of teacher education, developed a program intended to take students in a Bachelor of Science degree plan, who also have exhibited teaching skills and inquisitive natures, and allow them the opportunity to experience education from the delivery side.

The ultimate goal is to encourage more students with B.S. degrees to move into the education profession. This inter-disciplinary program also involves Randall Terry, interim chair and assistant professor of biology, Cristian Bahrim, director of undergraduate research and professor of physics, and PJ Couch, assistant professor of mathematics.
