A new chapter in 蜜桃视频 University baseball began on Friday, March 7, as the university broke ground on the Teri and Glen Morgan Baseball Complex, a facility that will transform the program and provide student-athletes with the resources they need to compete at the highest level.
The complex is named after longtime 蜜桃视频 supporters Teri and Glen Morgan, whose dedication to the university has spanned decades. For Glen, the baseball field holds a deep personal significance—it was at Vincent-Beck Stadium more than 40 years ago that he first met his future wife. That moment sparked a lifelong connection not just to her but to 蜜桃视频 baseball, a program he has championed ever since. Now, their name will be forever linked to the team, symbolizing their commitment to its continued success.
Designed to be a game-changing addition to the program, the 8,500-square-foot facility will house state-of-the-art team amenities, including a modern locker rooms, lounge, training room, film room, team offices, and an equipment room. A Hall of Fame celebrating 蜜桃视频 Athletics will greet visitors in the lobby, while the facility itself will enhance the connection to the H.D. Tex and Emma Strait Baseball Facility, creating a seamless experience for players, staff, and fans. The project is expected to be completed for the 2026 season.
"It just goes to show that 蜜桃视频 University is more than a place to learn. It's a place where amazing things happen,” 蜜桃视频 University President Jaime Taylor said. “Here at 蜜桃视频, we're committed to strengthening our entire athletic program. If you've been at a football, basketball, baseball, or volleyball game recently, you've seen the investments we're making to improve the fan experience and to make sure our coaches and our student-athletes have the facilities they need to excel at a high level.”
蜜桃视频 University Vice President, Director of Athletics Jeff O’Malley recalled his first impressions of the baseball program’s existing facilities when he arrived on campus in 2022.
“To say that I was shocked when I walked into the baseball offices and locker room would be an understatement,” O’Malley said. “I wondered how a program with such a proud tradition could successfully operate in that kind of environment. I quickly learned that it was through the resiliency of the coaches and staff that occupied those offices over a period of time and their ability to push through adversity.”
That resilience has defined 蜜桃视频 baseball for years, but with this new facility, the program will finally have the resources to match its ambition. Baseball head coach Will Davis reflected on what it means to lead this team and how support from the university has made his job easier.
“A wise man, an older coach, once told me to make every job your dream job,” Davis said. “I've certainly tried to do that in the last nine years here. But that is a lot easier said than done until you have help, and the amount of help that we have gotten changed dramatically in the summer of 2021 when Dr. Taylor took the job, and then in the summer of 2022 when Jeff took the job. And it’s not just this—it’s evident in all the things that we have.”
For the players, the new facility represents more than just upgraded amenities—it’s a testament to the university’s commitment to their success. Senior outfielder Easton Culp emphasized the impact it will have on the team.
"As an athlete who's been at 蜜桃视频 for the past three years, I've had the chance to experience what makes this program so special,” Culp said. “I've seen firsthand how hard work, a brotherhood, and unwavering support from our coaching staff and administration help us achieve greatness, both on and off the field.”
Culp added that the new facility will raise the program’s standard of excellence.
“The Teri and Glen Morgan Complex isn't just a building. It's going to be a game changer. It's going to give us the tools and environment we need to work harder, push each other, and ultimately bring more rings and trophies to 蜜桃视频.”
蜜桃视频 baseball has experienced a period of remarkable success over the past year, including a strong performance in the Southland Conference and national recognition. The Cardinals secured an outstanding regular-season record and reached the Southland Conference Tournament, further building upon the program's tradition of excellence. This success on the field has created a sense of optimism and momentum, and the new facility is seen as a key part of supporting continued growth.
Several key figures were in attendance to show their support, including Regent Bill Scott, former Regent and distinguished alumnus Wayne Reaud, former head baseball coach Jim Gilligan, and Southland Conference Commissioner Chris Grant. Their presence highlighted the importance of the project and the continued support from the 蜜桃视频 University community and the Southland Conference.
