A: My name is Kaleshia Underwood and I am from Navasota, Texas. I am currently a senior accounting major graduating this Fall 2022.

Q: Which company/organization will you be interning with?
A: I will be doing a Winter Internship with Grant Thornton LLP, this year.

Q: Where is your internship taking place (city/state)?
A: My internship will be taking place in Houston, Texas.

Q: What is/will be your job title/duties?
A: The internship that I will be completing is for Audit. I will be doing things like working on a variety of client engagements in varying industries, researching audit issues, being exposed to audit procedures in the areas of cash, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, payrolls, and expense analysis, networking, etc. the list goes on.

Q: What are you most excited about with this internship?
A: I am most excited about gaining valuable experiences, meeting new people and strengthening my knowledge as an accountant.

Q: Tell us about your future goals and aspirations and how this internship can help you along your journey.
A: My goals after graduation will be to get my master’s and to be CPA certified. There is a low percentage of black accountants even much lower than those who are females, so I want to be a part of that number. My internship will prepare me for the next chapters in my life as an accountant and there is so much more to it than just looking at numbers.

Q: Anything else that you would like to share?
A: I would like to share with anyone who is studying to be an accountant to keep going because it does get hard sometimes and we tend to beat ourselves up. Pick your head up and remember the reason why!
