“We encourage the pursuit of math and science through a variety of programs and by making a joint effort with organizations, like ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University, we’re putting science and math fluency on the fast track,” Rozena Dendy, ExxonMobil Beaumont refinery manager, said. “STEM education isn’t just crucial for our future engineers and scientists but is something we believe is fundamental to any career. We support the development of a passionate and highly skilled generation that will help solve problems and create new opportunities into the future, no matter what field they’re working in.”
The LU College of Engineering is a proud member of the community and is enthusiastic about encouraging future generations in Beaumont ISD to learn more about future careers in the fast-growing field of robotics. ExxonMobil’s contribution will help the advancement of existing and upcoming programs within LU and Beaumont ISD.
“Fueling K-12 students’ interest in STEM, keeping that fire and drive alive, and supporting their pursuit of STEM in higher education is one of the core initiatives for the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University College of Engineering,” Dr. Brian Craig, Dean of The College of Engineering, said. “Once again, we are thankful to our friends and partners at ExxonMobil who provided us with the resources to increase our capacity to capture the attention and teach the young minds of Southeast Texas the importance of robotics and automation.”
The LU College of Engineering is planning to host an annual robotic competition for local and regional high school robotic teams and is set to begin in fall 2023.
