Andre Favors, instructor for the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University Department of Communication and Media, was selected by the Texas Academic Advising Network, TEXAAN, for the Faculty Advisor Recognition Award. The purpose of the award is to celebrate individuals whose primary responsibility is teaching and who spends a
portion of their time providing academic advising services to students.
“This award is an honor to receive and a highlight of my academic career. I would like to personally thank Derina Holtzhausen, dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication, for creating positions like mine that allow me to incorporate advising, teaching, service and scholarship in an equitable way,” said Favors. “Robert Hamilton, student advisor, and Natalie Tindall, chair of the Department of Communication and Media, wrote letters on my behalf for this honor and I could not have achieved this without them.”
TEXAAN, the premiere academic advising organization of Texas, is an association of professional advisors, counselors, faculty, administrators and students working to enhance the educational development of students. They serve as a professional representation of academic advising excellence in Texas by providing professional development, networking, recognition and dissemination of information. TEXAAN was founded in 1992 and is now comprised of advisors from private, public, two-year and four-year institutions across the state.
Favors will be recognized for his award at the annual TEXANN conference on February 24.
