Support the Cardinal Emergency Fund

Imelda’s unexpected and devastating impact is as wide spread as it is overwhelming. For those of you who have been impacted by this storm, please know that you are in our hearts and in our minds and we hope and pray for your speedy recovery.

Many of our students have been personally impacted by the extraordinary flooding. As with any family, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University has students, faculty, and staff who have been personally impacted by the storm, and we have others in our family who are eager to help where they can. Our first priority is to make sure that our students who are facing shocking losses can continue their educational endeavors without interruption. For each student, that will require a unique approach. What we know from experience is that many of these needs will be financial – to help students recover books, clothes, computers, and other essentials for their LU education. We also know that many of our students will require assistance with housing, transportation, and other basic needs.

We are reaching out to our extended LU family to ask your consideration of financial support for our students. Two years ago, we established the Cardinal Emergency Fund, that fund remains active and will be used to address the greatest needs of our students. We ask that you consider giving now to build the Cardinal Emergency Fund to support our students impacted by this storm.

Proceeds collected for the Cardinal Emergency Fund will be designated to assist our students who need them most. University Financial Aid officials have established a process to collect, review, and respond to requests for aid, with a goal of helping as many students as possible based on their degree of need.

The history of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University is built on the ideal of a community of supporters who work together to ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve their educational and life goals. Please help us meet our students' needs by supporting the Cardinal Emergency Fund by visiting lamar.edu/giving. With gratitude, Juan J. Zabala Vice President for University Advancement ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University.
