Engineering Seniors Present Capstone Projects

On April 26 ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University College of Engineering will host the Fourth Annual Senior Design Symposium from 3-5 p.m. in the Live Oak Ballroom of the Setzer Student Center. The Senior Design Symposium will feature more than 40 projects from chemical, civil and environmental, electrical, industrial and mechanical engineering Capstone 2019students. Industry professionals will judge the projects and awards will be announced at 4:45 p.m. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

“The senior design project is intended to help our students apply the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout their education to a problem of their choosing,” said Victor Zaloom, interim dean of the College of Engineering. “A lot of time and hard work has gone into planning, designing and building these projects, and this event is a great way for the community to see the ingenuity and creativity of our soon-to-be graduated students.”

The projects are the culmination of a year’s work in the student’s chosen field. Work on eco-care design, programs to detect water on other planets and the manipulation of hamster cells to produce cancer-fighting antibodies are only a few of the projects slated to be presented.
