Natarajan nets national honor

Vivek NatarajanÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University’s Associate Professor Vivek Natarajan has been awarded the 2018 Federation of Business Disciplines Distinguished Educator Award by the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators.

Natarajan was selected from among the members of the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators (ACME) and was recently recognized at the annual ACME meeting held in conjunction with the Federation of Business Disciplines 45th annual meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in teaching and serve as a leader and mentor to others in education.

“Professor Natarajan has long been involved with FBD and the Marketing Educators group,” said Henry Venta, dean of the College of Business. “Faculty involvement with professional organizations such as this one keep our faculty current in their fields and enhances the value that they provide to our students.  With his leadership roles, Dr. Natarajan also raises the visibility of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University in the academic community.”

Natarajan, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington, has taught courses in marketing and business in LU’s College of Business since 2006. In addition to his many roles within the college and university, he is serving as president of the LU Faculty Senate.

In addition to his teaching, advising, research and university service he has served as a member of the PRJ Editorial Review Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Business Disciplines, and on the board of the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators Conference. He has also served on editorial boards of several academic journals. Natarajan will serve as the program chair for the FBD meeting next year in Houston.

To be selected as a candidate is an honor and, for the winner this award represents a prestigious achievement.

The Federation of Business Disciplines is an academic association with national and international constituencies that focuses on promoting and improving research and educational activities of schools and colleges of businesses.

A successful nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization, the FBD was founded in 1973 and has developed into one to the largest, most prestigious annual meetings for those disciplines common to business administration both nationally and internationally. More than 1,000 college professors from schools of businesses attend its annual meetings.

FBD includes 10 professional associations that focus on the promotion and improvement of research and educational activities of schools and colleges of businesses.

The Federation of Business Disciplines' mission is to facilitate the multidisciplinary exchange of ideas that foster professional growth and enrichment for its members to improve instruction, research and academic/business development.
