Panel examines impact of Brexit
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University students, faculty, staff and the general public are invited to join panelist, Andy Coughlin, Maria Sandovici and John Wells for an open discussion on the impact of Brexit in European health care, trade, politics and public opinion.
The discussion will be held in the Reaud Administration Building, Executive Event Room, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15.
Award-winning writer, photographer and blogger, Andy Coughlin is director of Student Publications at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University. A native of Brighton, England, he has lived in Southeast Texas for more than 30 years. He holds a M.A. from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University, has served as the advisor to the University Press for 23 years, and is editor of ISSUE, an award-winning monthly arts magazine published by The Art Studio Inc.
Maria Sanbdovici is associate professor of political science at LU and is coordinator of the university’s Texas Legislative Internship program. Sanbdovici, holds a Ph.D. from Binghamton University and has been a visiting scholar at Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway; Juan March Institute, Madrid, Spain; and Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain. She is the author of numerous scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed publications including “Social Capital and Political Action” in International Journal of Comparative Sociology.
John Wells is a professor at the Waterford Institute of Technology, where he is the head of Department of Nursing, School of Health Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in nursing studies from King’s College University of London, and is a registered nurse and psychiatric nurse.
This year’s theme for ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University International Education Week 2016 is, “Empowering Young People through International Education.” International Education Week is sponsored by the Office of Study Abroad, Office of International Student Services, Office of Diversity & Inclusion, Reaud Honors College, Phi Beta Delta International Honors Society, JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing and the Department of English & Modern Languages.
