M.B.A. student receives Texas Business Hall of Fame Ben J. Rogers Scholarship

Keyana Carr of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University is among a select group of exceptional students from across Texas to receive scholarships this year from the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation. Carr and others will be recognized formally at the foundation’s annual induction dinner October 27 in San Antonio. She is the recipient of the Texas Business Hall of Fame Ben J. Rogers scholarship.

Carr, of the North Shore community in Houston and a graduate of Houston ISD’s Barbara Jordan High School, graduated from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University on May 21 with a bachelor’s in business administration and is continuing work at LU toward an M.B.A.

"Receiving the Texas Business Hall of Fame Ben J. Rogers scholarship is a huge blessing for me,” Carr said. “Not only will it cover my tuition but it also has given me the motivation to succeed. I'm so honored and thankful for this award and opportunity. I could not have accomplished this without Dean Henry Venta and my College of Business professors."

The Foundation will honor 36 students working toward their degrees at 26 Texas colleges and universities, awarding each a $15,000 scholarship.

Celebrating its 34th anniversary, the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation honors members of the state’s business community whose visions and careers have helped to place Texas at the forefront of the 21st century economy and seeks out the future entrepreneurs and leaders who will allow Texas to maintain this presence in the future.

The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation was created in 1982 by a small group of Texas business men and women to focus awareness on the positive achievements made by outstanding business legends and to honor their contributions to their community and their state.

Beaumont business leader and philanthropist Ben J. Rogers was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame in 1991 in recognition of the contributions he made to the business community of the state.

To date, the foundation, a non-profit organization of 80 directors who are business leaders from cities throughout the state, has awarded more than 650 scholarships to Texas business students pursuing an education at Texas’ leading institutions of higher learning.
