The meeting was called to order by Yinka Jenmy, Vice President, at 1:35pm.  Roll was taken by Stephanie Allen, Secretary, and a quorum was present.

Committee Reports:

Bylaws Committee:  No report

Communications Committee:  No report

Community Service Committee:  Stacie brought up concerns regarding the book drive and the Cardinal Pantry:

  • Since the book drive and pantry drive will be on different days, more assistance will be needed to transport materials
  • Neither drive will get the spotlight

Dimples will address these concerns with the Staff Social Events committee.

Nominations Committee:  No report

Staff Awards Committee:  No report

Staff Social Events Committee: Yinka gave the following report:

  • The Staff Appreciation Picnic is tentatively scheduled for April 20, 2022.
  • LU Umbrellas will be given out to staff members.
  • Faculty Senate has expressed interest in assisting with the picnic.
  • Popcorn, sno-cone, and LU Floats (with color changing cups!) will be available this year.
  • The committee will get in touch with the Art Department to discuss having a caricaturist at the picnic.

Staff Relations Committee: No report

Staff Social Events Committee: Yinka gave the following report:

  • There will be 3 days of celebration:
    • 4/18/22 – Kickoff
    • 4/19/22 – Floats/Sno-Cones/Cotton Candy/Popcorn
    • 4/20/22 – Picnic from 11:00am – 1:00pm
  • The picnic will be held in the Quad (Montagne if it rains).
  • LU Umbrellas and shirts will be given out to staff members.
  • Faculty Senate will be partnering with Staff Council to assist with the picnic.
  • The committee is looking at several options to make this even fun (Big Red Chair, Balloons, Mascots, Cheer and Dance team presence, caricature artists, etc).

Ad Hoc (Employee Initiative) Committee:  Sharlene Hatch, Chair, gave the following report:

  • The finalized list of awards and recognitions will be presented at the next Staff Council meeting

Ad Hoc (Centennial) Committee:  No report

 

Old Business:  There was no old business.

New Business: The was no new business.

Good of the Order:  Sharlene asked that all council members complete any past due trainings and to remind their departments (faculty, staff, student workers) to do the same. 

 

The next Staff Council meeting will be April 12, 2022 at 2:00pm, in the CICE Building, Room 113.  A calendar invite for this meeting was sent out on 2/16/2022.

Albertine moved to adjourn the meeting and Alicia seconded.

There being no further business, Yinka adjourned the meeting at 1:56pm.
