Graduate Council

Charge: The Graduate Council shall advise the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies on policies and procedures relating to graduate admissions, curricula, new programs, course additions and deletions, graduation requirements, syllabi requirements, and related curricular or graduate issues. Graduate Council members shall be elected by and from graduate faculty members in departments which offer graduate degrees. The council's membership shall consist of elected graduate faculty representatives from each college. The Registrar, Associate Deans of Graduate Studies, and SACSCOC Liaison shall serve as ex officio, non-voting members. The chair of the council shall be the Graduate Dean.

Membership & Reporting: Faculty Senators/Deans conduct the election of tenured faculty members from the Graduate Faculty; the Dean of Graduate Studies chairs the Committee; the Associate Deans of Graduate Studies, along with SACSCOC Liaison and Registrar, serve ex officio; charge to Committee is given by Dean of Graduate Studies; recommendations from Committee are presented to the Graduate Dean who shares them with the Provost.  Faculty members may not serve on the Graduate Council and Graduate Faculty Review Committee simultaneously.
