Workshop on Writing a Compelling Paper

The O.U.R. offers a workshop for writing a compelling research paper or a competitive proposal for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (S.U.R.F.) program. Panel Discussion on Preparing a Successful S.U.R.F. Proposal

The Office of Undergraduate Research invites all undergraduates to submit proposals for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (S.U.R.F.) program by the deadline, Feb. 23. Recent S.U.R.F. winners will help you to get started in writing your proposal and give you hints on how to win a grant.

HR Support Drop-In Sessions

Human Resources will begin hosting monthly HR Support Drop-In Sessions starting Monday, Jan. 12, 2026. These sessions will be available both in person and via Microsoft Teams on the second Monday of each month at 2 p.m. CST in the CICE Building, Room 113, and will last one hour.

2026 Get Fit Texas!

The Get Fit Texas! Challenge helps build healthy habits, stay active with coworkers, and add a little friendly competition. Simply aim to complete 150 minutes of physical activity per week for at least six out of the 10 weeks. Registration opens Monday, Jan.12 at getfittexas.org.

Passport Day 2026
Passport Day Is Coming Back to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ University

Date: Thursday, Feb. 5, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Please bring all required documents to obtain a passport conveniently on campus at the Setzer Center. This is an excellent opportunity for students planning to study abroad or anyone who needs a passport. Complimentary passport photos will be provided.

Full Wind Ensemble
LU Wind Ensemble TMEA Preview Concert

Date: Sunday, Feb. 8, 4 - 5 p.m.
Location: Julie Rogers Theatre (Downtown Beaumont)

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ University Wind Ensemble has been honored with an invitation to perform before the Texas Music Educators Association's 2026 clinic/convention in San Antonio. They will present a local preview of this upcoming concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Julie Rogers Theatre in downtown Beaumont. This event is free and open to the public. The O.U.R. offers another workshop on learning effective strategies to run a good literature review and build a competitive SURF proposal or add valuable content to your research paper. The moderator is Ms. Elizabeth Sanders, the Director for Learning and Research at the Mary and John Gray Library.

Dr. Tim Seiter will talk about his new book that explores the everyday experiences of Presidio La Bahía’s Hispano soldiers and their families at the edge of the Spanish empire in Texas.
