KVLU Pop-up Exhibit On View Through August 3

"KVLU: Rewind…In Pictures" will be on view at the Dishman Art Museum through Saturday, August 3. The exhibit features archival photographs and memorabilia that highlight the early days (and people) of KVLU long before computer automation, digital media and internet streaming.

Hearing Aids
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Audiology Summer Services Available

Date(s): Now through Thursday, Aug. 1, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: LU Speech & Hearing Building

The LU Speech and Hearing Clinic offers audiology services as a benefit of employment to employees, their insurance-covered dependents, or to currently enrolled students, with no out-of-pocket expenses. LU Center for Resiliency Continues Disaster Backpack Distributions on Wednesdays

Prepare for hurricane season with the LU Center for Resiliency Smartstorm disaster training and receive a backpack complete with emergency supplies to assist you and your family in the event of a disaster. Bring your participation verification to the Signature Center suites located in the Cherry Engineering Building on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Boomtown Summer Serenade

Location: Spindletop Boomtown Museum

Join Spindletop Boomtown Museum for an evening of live music by Jamie Talbert, food, and local artist vendors at Boomtown Summer Serenade. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; and music is from 8 to 10 p.m. There will be a $5 general entry fee and free entry for LU students. LU students will receive a free food voucher with a valid student ID.

First Generation Connections Launches This Fall

The LU Office of Strategic Initiatives is launching First Generation (First Gen) Connections this fall. The purpose is to engage first-generation students using holistic approaches to advance curricular and co-curricular outcomes and transform their college experience. The First Gen Connections program is for students whose parent(s) did not complete a four-year degree. ACUE Fall
Faculty Applications Open for Fall 2024 ACUE Cohort Through August 10

Deadline: Saturday, Aug. 10, 5 p.m.

Current ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University faculty are encouraged to enroll in a Fall 2024 cohort of Inspiring Inquiry in Your Online Course which will run from August 26 through October 13. Spots are limited and priority enrollment will be given to LU faculty who are currently active in ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University's ACUE program. .

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University Foundation FY24 Request to Pay Processing Deadline

Deadline: Monday, Aug. 19, noon

All Request to Pays (RTP) to be processed for FY24 must be delivered to the LU Foundation office by noon Monday, August 19. End of Fiscal Year 2024 Deadlines Established

The Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 ends on August 31, 2024. Financial Services has established the following deadlines for processing transactions against current FY24 funds to ensure the university's business is conducted in full compliance with state laws and policies. This also helps establish purchase orders/contracts/payments/travel/payroll/inventory applications for the start of FY25. These deadlines are established to enable staff to better manage the increased year-end workload.

New Course Evaluation System Launching Summer 2024

Starting Summer 2024, LU will begin using a new student course evaluation system from Watermark. Students will receive an email inviting them to participate. Course evaluations can also be accessed directly through Blackboard. Questions about the evaluation system can be directed to darpa@lamar.edu.

New Holiday Calendar 2024-2025

We are excited to share that the new Holiday Calendar for 2024-2025 is now available. You can access it here. We hope this helps you plan your time and holidays effectively.

Center for Resiliency Accepts Submissions for Fiscal Year 2025 Springboard Project Funding

All faculty are invited to submit applications for FY 2025 Springboard projects beginning June 21, 2024. Application forms are available from Carrie Schmidt at CSchmidt5@lamar.edu. All applications must be submitted to your college team lead for your dean's consideration.

Payroll Announcement:

Timesheets for pay period 8/3/2024 - 8/16/2024 are due on regularly scheduled deadlines. Timesheets for pay period 8/17/2024 - 8/30/2024 will be due early due to campus closure on 9/2/24. Bi-weekly employees must enter timesheets by 11:59 p.m. Supervisors must approve by 2:00 p.m.
