Personal Goals Workshop on April 18

Money Management Program is hosting an in-person workshop along with Laura Landry of Education First FCU – learn how to achieve your goals. Whether you're saving for a car, ready to purchase a home, paying down debt or already know what your retirement dreams are, we got you covered!

Collage at the Jefferson
Department of Music's Collage Concert Will be on April 18

Date: Tuesday, April 18, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
Location: Jefferson Theatre

The Mary Morgan Department of Music's collage concert features our finest large ensembles, small chamber groups and a variety of students and faculty performers. Audience members get a small taste of every type of music from opera to jazz.

College of Business and Media Club to Host Media Madness on April 19

Date: Wednesday, April 19, 4 - 6 p.m.
Location: Setzer Ballroom

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University's College of Business is partnering with the college's Media Club to host Media Madness. Meant to join together with other student organizations and small businesses. to to sign up for a booth/table.

Earth Day
Earth Day Celebration on April 20

Date: Thursday, April 20, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Brook-Shivers Dining Hall lawn

Earth Day is an annual celebration to support environmental protection and raise awareness about global climate change. Be sure to join the Office of Sustainability. More information is available.

Texas Academy Preview Day for High School Students to be on April 22

Date: Saturday, April 22, 9 - 11:30 a.m.
Location: Welcome Center

The Texas Academy at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University is a program for high achieving juniors and seniors at the high school level. Join us at Preview Day to learn about the benefits of the program including free tuition, academic pathways, research opportunities, student life and more. is available.

Center for Resiliency's New Brown Bag Talk to be Held on April 25

Supporting Your Right to Know
Learn About the Freedom of Information Act at "Information Access" Event on April 25

Date: Tuesday, April 25, 3:30 - 5 p.m.
Location: 8th Floor, Mary and John Gray Library

Please join us for "Supporting Your Right to Know: Information Access," an event celebrating our 66th anniversary in the Federal Depository Library Program, which distributes government information. Our keynote speaker, SSA Nicole Sinegar (FBI), will discuss the Freedom of Information Act.

Learn Everything You Need to Know About Buying a Home on April 27

Date: Thursday, April 27, 1 - 2 p.m.

Join Money Management Program, along with Ashlynn Lalonde from Mobiloil Credit Union, will teach a step-by-step guide to buying a home. Buying a home involves finding the property, securing financing, making an offer, getting a home inspection and closing on the purchase. More information is available.

Center for Resiliency presenting Citizen Lecture Series on April 27

The Center for Resiliency presents the Citizen Lecture series featuring the Lower Neches Authority speaking on the topic "Providing Fresh Water from the LNVA Through Hurricane Harvey."

A Resiliency Reader
Last Call for "A Resiliency Reader" Submissions

Deadline: Sunday, April 30, 11:59 p.m.

This is the last call for submissions. The Center for Resiliency is publishing a book of collected works from the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ community, including LIT, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ State College Orange and ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ State College Port Arthur. We're accepting poetry, short fiction, personal/scholarly essays and art. Tell us your story of resilience. Five submissions will be awarded $100 each.

Applications for Student Scholar Program Due May 31

Deadline: Wednesday, May 31, 5 p.m.

The Texas State University System Regents' Student Scholar Award is now open for applications. More information is available.

Call for 2024 Study Abroad Course Proposals

Deadline: Thursday, June 1, 5 p.m.

If you are interested in teaching a course abroad during the winer or summer semesters next year, the Office of Study Abroad is now accepting course proposals. If you missed our workshop on submitting course proposals, reach out to Tiffany Perkinz to schedule a meeting.

Campus Malwarebytes Removal Happening This Week

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University Information Technology is consolidating on Microsoft Defender as the campus-wide anti-virus software. From Monday, April 17, until Thursday, April 20, the Malwarebytes software will be removed from computers after business hours, as a reboot will be done. Please leave all computers on overnight to facilitate this removal. 

Failure to leave the computer turned on during this time may cause a reboot during the workday. Please make sure to save all work and close applications prior to leaving each day

System Outage Due to Annual Disaster Recovery Test on April 21-23

Due to the scheduled annual Disaster Recovery Systems Test, the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University systems will experience intermittent outages between 5 p.m. Friday, April 21, through 5 p.m. Sunday, April 23.

The following services will be periodically unavailable during this time: Self-Service Banner, Internet Native Banner, Argos Reporting, Xtender Imaging System, Appworx job processing, student information, online password reset services, library catalog, and Cardinal Purch. 

The following services will not be impacted: ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University website, Blackboard, email, online course evaluations, campus internet and phone services. If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact the Service Desk at (409) 880-2222 or email servicedesk@lamar.edu.

The FY23 Inventory Verification from May 1 - June 15

The state of Texas requires ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University to conduct an annual verification of its property. This is no small task, with over 10,000 assets distributed among 125 departments. The list of assets to be verified will be sent to each department's property custodian on May 1 and is due June 15. More information is available.

- Table tennis tournament Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m.
