Becoming an Advanced Certification Candidate

To become an advanced educator, you can pursue higher education degrees like a master’s in education (M.Ed.) in a specialized subject area such a reading specialist, professional school counseling, educational administrator, or educational diagnostician.

Program Completion Requirements - Advanced Teacher Certification

  • Be admitted to Graduate Studies and Educator Preparation Program at LU;
  • Complete all required degree and certification coursework which includes clinical experiences approved by LU at TEA approved sites;
  • Degree conferment from LU for associated M.Ed. degree or completion of the appropriate LU Certification Program with a 3.0 GPA or higher;
  • Be identified as a LU EPP program completer with a certification recommendation from assigned field supervisor and site supervisor;
  • Pass required certification exams approved by LU to become certified in Texas;
  • Attempt all required certification exams approved by LU in order to become certified in Texas;
