18 hours in any graduate English course
Optional six Hours of electives outside of dept. with approval by the graduate advisor or chair.

Traditional (Thesis) Track:

ENGL 5301 History of the English Language
ENGL 5300 Linguistics

Six hours in any graduate English course

Elective Courses

With written justification and approval from the department chair, students may take up to 6 graduate hours outside of the department.

Courses in Literature, Writing, Pedagogy, Linguistics, and rhetoric courses and agreed upon with advisor and student interests.



Other

Thesis students must orally defend their thesis in their last semester.

Non-thesis students must sit for an oral examination over all their coursework.
