Connection to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ: After completing her Masters of Business Administration, Stead returned to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University as a valued member of Faculty for five years.
Bette has been a strong supporter of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University and the College of Business and has established three scholarships for students in business.

Known for: In the 2003 Bauer College of Business University of Houston, annual report, Stead is noted as "the architect of the capital campaign proposal that culminated in Ted Bauer's $40M endowment." Her articles appeared in top publication outlets. Her book, Women In Management, was published by Prentice-Hall in 1978 and 1982.
At the University of Houston, Stead taught the first electronic commerce course offered and an M.B.A. course, "International Environment of Business," taught totally on-line. She developed a course titled "Marketing for Nonprofits," and, over the years, her students completed some 150 projects for Houston-area nonprofits.
She chaired the $2M renovation of Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal) and also chaired task forces for over $40M for a treatment center, a community center, and affordable housing for the Women's Home.
