Pursue the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ University to follow your interest in the science of physical kinesis and how our bodies work to sustain themselves. The program sequence is designed to satisfy the prerequisites for additional professional training in medicine (physicians), physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant and law or to pursue graduate studies in exercise and basic sciences, to mention a few.
This program also prepares you by providing a strong background in exercise and basic sciences, nutrition, psychology, principles of disease, exercise prescription, measurement and laboratory techniques. One of our highest priorities is to provide you with hands-on experiences, focusing on the many diverse issues and challenges placed upon the human body. You'll take courses in everything from psychology to the metabolic effects of exercise and from nutrition to neuromuscular physiology.
Psychology of Sport and Exercise: Psychological perspectives of sport; personalities of sports participants and current literature related to psychological aspects of sport.
Strength and Conditioning: An examination of skeletal muscular physiology as it applies to muscle function and development through training. Discussion of current training techniques and physiological outcomes.
Metabolic Effects of Sport and Exercise: A study of the biochemical demands placed on the body under various training protocols. An emphasis is placed on the nutrient demands of the body in respect to meeting training goals.
Cardiopulmonary Exercise Physiology: The purpose of this course is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the structure and function of human cardiopulmonary system at rest and during exercise.
Testing Procedures and Measurements: A study of the common fitness and sport performance tests utilized in Exercise Science. Testing types; protocols; procedures; errors, and interpretations of results are examined.
Your degree in kinesiology will qualify you as an excellent candidate for a career in corporate or community wellness/fitness, personal training, cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, athletic training and aligned professions.
